Southeast Asia Backpacking - Mid 30's!
1. 9. - 19. 12. 2019 (110 day trip)
Vietnam Cambodia Thailand
Quitting my job and backpacking Southeast Asia from September to around Christmas time. I'm 33 and looking to see the sites while also getting off the beaten path. I'm not a straight edge by any measure, but not looking to simply party with 20 year olds. Happy going out and meeting travelers as well as locals, immersing myself as much as possible in local culture, and going on spectacular physical adventures.
Split costs: Yes
Budget: $2000 +
Type of journey: Backpacking, City break, Beach, Other
Looking for: Male
Meeting before trip: Skype
Languages: English
Accommodation: Hotels, Couchsurfing, Homestay, Campside, Other, Hostels
Getting around: Bicycle, Boat, Bus, Canoeing-rafting, Car, Cruise, Hiking, Hitchhiking, Motorcycle, Plane, Train, Other
First visit: Yes
Work & Travel: Yes
Itinerary: Flexible
Places I want to see: North Vietnam in the beginning (weather is better in September in the North), making my way to Cmabodia/Loas (possible a meditation retreast (I'm a complete beginner), and then Thailand. I'm also flexible on destinations timing, just from the research I've done on the weather, this seems most practical.
Things I want to do: All the typical stuff but with more of a focus on being in places that aren't for tourists. I'm excited to hike, boat, camp, be social and let the universe guide me!

Hi! I like your idea about a focus on areas that aren't for tourist. I'm confident to help you and your group to explore places in Viet Nam in the best way. Sometime no plan means the best plan.

Hey Charlie. Our paths might overlap in N. Vietnam and/or Laos in early September. I’m starting next week in Ho Chi Minh for a week, then southern Laos and then I’ll be in northern Laos and N. Vietnam from August 14 through October 2. I don’t have set plans after August 24 but I’ll probably be in and out of Hanoi a couple of times around the time you arrive. I’d like to visit Sa Pa and maybe some other areas in the north. I’m already planning to be in Luang Prabang Aug 14-24, but I really enjoyed my time in that town last year and I now have a few friends there so I might return to LP in September. Rather than give you my bio you can check out my Facebook page which will give you a good idea of my travel style, such as it is. I stopped working last year and have been traveling since. I was in SE Asia last fall and liked it so much I’m going back. My FB link: https://www.facebook.com/steve.brodsky.14 If you go back to my posts from last November/December you’ll see some of the highlights from my previous visit to Laos & Vietnam. If you might want to join up for a little while in September you can email me at [email protected]
