Trip Title: 7-Day Kilimanjaro Trek via Marangu Route – Summit the Roof of Africa! Trip Overview: Join me on a thrilling 7-day adventure to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet)! We'll be taking the iconic Marangu Route, also known as the "Coca-Cola" route, due to its reputation for being one of the more comfortable routes on Kilimanjaro. This route offers hut accommodation, which is a big plus for comfort compared to camping. It’s perfect for trekkers looking for a classic and scenic approach to the mountain. Departure Date: 23/february/2025 Duration: 7 Days Location: Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania Difficulty Level: Moderate to Challenging Group Size: [Specify how many people you want to join] Price per person: [Enter your price if you already know it or leave for later] Trip Highlights: Trek to the Summit of Mount Kilimanjaro: Reach the iconic Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Marangu Route: Known for its relatively gentle slope and hut-based accommodation. Stunning Scenery: Traverse lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and volcanic landscapes. Experienced Guides & Support Team: Local guides, porters, and cooks to ensure a safe and enjoyable trek. Cultural Experience: Opportunity to engage with the friendly local Chagga people. Itinerary Overview: Day 1: Arrival in Moshi Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania. (The town serves as the base for the trek.) Meet your guide, and team, and check into your hotel. There will be a briefing session to discuss the upcoming trek and to check gear. You’ll have the afternoon free to relax, explore Moshi, or prepare your equipment. Day 2: Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) Distance: 8 km Trek Time: 4-5 hours We will drive to Marangu Gate (1,830 meters), where your trek begins. The trail starts in the lush rainforest, with opportunities to spot birds, monkeys, and tropical plants. Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) and enjoy a warm meal. The evening is for relaxation, and you can enjoy the beautiful views. Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720 meters) Distance: 12 km Trek Time: 6-7 hours Today’s trek takes you out of the rainforest and into the alpine meadow zone. As you ascend, you’ll see a shift in the landscape with fewer trees and more grasses and heath plants. Arrive at Horombo Hut, which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Spend the night at Horombo Hut and acclimatize to the altitude. Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,700 meters) Distance: 10 km Trek Time: 5-6 hours Today, you will ascend through the barren, rocky landscape as you approach Kibo Hut, situated at the base of the summit. This is a relatively short but steep climb, and the landscape becomes increasingly desolate and volcanic. Kibo Hut is the final stop before the summit attempt. Here, you'll rest and prepare for the summit push later. Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) and Descend to Horombo Hut Distance: 16 km Trek Time: 12-15 hours Summit Day! The day begins with an early start, leaving Kibo Hut around midnight. We will ascend through the steep, rocky scree slope to Gilman's Point (5,681 meters). From Gilman’s Point, it’s another hour or so to reach the summit at Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters). You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views from the top, including the glaciers and the surrounding landscapes. After the summit celebration, we will descend to Horombo Hut to rest for the night. Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate (Exit) Distance: 20 km Trek Time: 6-7 hours After a restful night, we begin our descent back to Marangu Gate, where the trek ends. You’ll pass through lush forests and meadows as you head back to the gate. Celebrate your successful climb at the gate, and receive your Kilimanjaro certificate! Day 7: Departure After the trek, return to Moshi, where you can relax, explore, or prepare for your next destination. Depending on your schedule, you may choose to leave for the airport or enjoy some time in Tanzania. Inclusions: Park Fees: All park fees, crater fees, camping or hut fees. Guides & Crew: Professional Kilimanjaro mountain guide, assistant guides, porters, and a cook. Accommodation: Hut accommodations on the Marangu Route. Meals: All meals during the trek (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner). Transportation: Transfers from Moshi to Marangu Gate and back. Oxygen supply: For emergencies. Kilimanjaro certificate: Upon successful summit. What to Pack: Clothing: Layered clothing for varying temperatures, a waterproof jacket, warm clothes for summit night, gloves, and a hat. Footwear: High-quality, comfortable hiking boots, gaiters, and camp shoes. Sleeping Bag: Suitable for cold temperatures. Other Essentials: Water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, trekking poles, camera, and snacks. Fitness and Preparation: This trek requires a good level of fitness. Prior experience in hiking at high altitudes will be beneficial. The slow and steady pace allows for proper acclimatization, but you should be prepared for a physically demanding experience. Important Notes: The Marangu Route is ideal for first-time trekkers because of its hut-based accommodation, but it is still a challenging climb. Acclimatization is key! We will take it slow and ensure we allow the body to adjust to the altitude. Be ready for the cold, especially at the summit. Temperatures can drop below freezing at night.
